It was the month of March when a new session of classes began at a high school where everyone had their own simple perspective on life. This was a time when new students, like pearls, appeared in colorful outfits, each looking for familiar faces in the sea of the unknown. Morning gatherings were filled with cheerful conversations.
A boy, feeling lost in this unfamiliar place, looked around for some company. A fair-faced, shy boy of short stature had just arrived. For him, this ordinary day was a new challenge and a spark of new hopes.
As he joined the assembly, trying to find a place in the row, he suddenly heard a voice. Although it was a normal request to find a spot in line, fate had different plans for this shy soul and the voice he heard. They spent a lot of time together, sharing every feeling. As best friends, they upgraded their relationship into something new—they fell in love and decided to spend their lives together.
Five years later, in September, their journey of togetherness was filled with laughter and the shyness reminiscent of their first meeting. After spending years together, a day came that brought tears, but only to the boy's eyes.
Years passed, and she reappeared in his life, stirring a rush of emotions that traveled from his heart to his mind, transforming into thoughts:
You left, but I didn’t mourn. I didn’t shed a single tear or let a negative thought consume me. I immersed myself in the chaos of life. But deep down, I knew I should have been shattered by our separation. So, I buried your memory somewhere between my aching heart and melancholic soul, to be recalled on a lonely day.
That day is finally here. Tonight, I am free to see you and miss you. There are no urgent duties awaiting me, and I have some time for myself. When I think about my ‘self,’ all I can remember is you—the beauty with which you adorned my name as you softly called it. I recall every moment when you raised an eyebrow, silently questioning why I was staring at you, and I would shamelessly smile and look away. I was always outspoken about my feelings for you. Every piece of my writing echoed my deepest thoughts about how perfect I thought you were and how much I desired to be significant in your life.
You were always a mystery to me and everyone around me, never quite letting me know what place I held in your life. Sometimes, I felt I was just another casual friend, but then there were days when you made me feel as vital as oxygen to you.
And then you left, as quietly as you had entered one sunny day because you realized we were poison to each other’s hearts. The saddest part is, I can’t curse you for leaving me broken because I know that leaving me broke your heart more terribly than it did mine.
Years have passed, but I still find you within myself and me within you. I still wonder if we could be together again, but time has taken us too far apart. I wish you a very happy married life!
